QUESTING
(Generating Narrative Synergy
™ Through Journeys of Discovery)

The concept of embarking on a quest - a journey in search of answers to questions and/or solutions to challenges - is a vital part of being human.  Though we have a tendency to resist change and cling to the familiar, we all know how exciting and even intoxicating the prospect of new and unexplored territory can be.  By nature and design we are creatures of imagination and creativity.  These are the qualities and abilities that participants in the Virtual World Story Project Quests are encouraged to tap, explore, and express.

Thanks to the interactive and immersive elements inherent in Second Life, Quests become more than just concepts.  They are real, multi-dimensional experiences that are seen, felt, and co-created by participants.  Moreover, they generate
Narrative Synergy™ that magical energy that's produced when people gather to share and create stories.

Here at The Virtual Worlds Story Project, we are developing and implementing Quests designed to challenge participants to flex their mental, emotional, and creative muscles, while acquiring and honing  a variety of practical skills.

The Virtual Worlds Story Project currently produces six kinds of Quests:

Stories Without Borders: Based on themes centered around the lives of specific individuals, Stories Without Borders seeks to tap the power of Story Quests to heal by helping participants step into the lives of the characters and see through their eyes.

  • Stories Without Borders: Based on themes centered around the lives of specific individuals, Stories Without Borders seeks to tap the power of Story Quests to heal by helping participants step into the lives of the characters and see through their eyes.
  • Story Quest Basics: Designed to teach participants how to access, listen to, and express their creativity while learning fundamental writing and critical thinking skills.  Story Quests are flexible and can be adapted for students of all ages.
  • Healing Quests:  Designed to explore how each individual is "tested" by life and to uncover the lessons in those tests through the process of wirting stories.
  • Vision Quests:  Designed to help indivduals and groups examine, rethink, and re-vision how they intend to live, work, and adapt to the challenges presented in the 21st century.
  • Phoenix Quests:  Narratives journeys that encourage participants to examine, gain insight into, and ultimatley transform aspects of their lives.
  • Poetry Quests: Designed to teach participants how to access, listen to, and express their creativity while learning the fundamentals of writing poetry.   The goal here is to learn to use and listen to language in new ways that offer insights into inner landscapes.  Poetry Quests are flexible and can be adapted for students of all ages.

Quests can be customized to meet  the needs and goals of all kinds of organizations.  They are also an ideal way to help people in all areas of education and business learn the skills they need to function in today's fast-paced, multi-media world.
