"Instead of teaching, I told stories.
Anything to keep them quiet and in their seats.
They thought I was teaching.  I thought I was teaching.  I was learning."  - F. McCourt

What If?

  • What if we assume that each student is a unique and valuable gift to the world?
  • What if the fundamental goal of education is to help each student discover, explore, and express that unique gift?
  • What if we assume there are no learning disabilities, only learning differences?
  • What if we work with each individual to understand and accommodate those differences?
  • What if we no long require students to memorize and regurgitate information, but allow them to demontrate their understanding through project-based learning models?
  • What if we no longer lecture but guide?
  • What if survival and success were no longer dictated by students' ability to fit, squeeze, and otherwise shoe horn themselves into pre-defined roles and jobs?

What If ...?

At the Virtual Worlds Story Project we are using the Questing model to rethink, re-imagine, and reshape what and how we teach students of all ages.  We firmly believe that true learning begins when each inidividual is helped to find and express his or her unique gifts.  These gifts emerge as students are given tools to access, experience, and express their stories or Narrative Threads™.  These individual threads then become the basis for weaving larger communities of practice.

Story Quests are an ideal way to encourage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) as they are engaging and immerisive, can be customized to particular ages, needs, and subjects, and ask students to utilize and master the practical 21st century skills they will require to function in the world.

If you would like to know more about how you can bring cutsomized Quests to your school or educational institution, we can be reached at any of the addresses or numbers below.  We look forward to hearing from you!
